Not A Still Life | Portrait of an Artist

Not A Still Life is the story of Morley Grainger, from her earliest childhood days in Sydney, Australia to the jungles of Papua New Guinea, the plains of Africa, the mountains of Central America and cold old Scotland with chunks of time in-between spent in Australia renovating houses, establishing a career as narrative visual artist telling our stories of both struggle and success. The award of a Churchill Fellowship spurred her on to create confronting artworks describing aspects of our history we’d rather not admit.

The inner prompting to leave a record of her creative journey was the catalyst for this series of audiobooks. Each chapter captures the essence of experiences that led to a mid-life burst of creativity – ten thematic touring exhibitions telling Australian/our stories of both struggle and success. Morley invites you to walk the chapters with her.

How to:

Morley’s story is presented as a series of ‘books’, on a ‘bookshelf’, with each book detailing a part (or parts) of our world that Morley lived, worked, loved and explored during her life. Each book is then presented as a series of ‘chapters’, so you, the listener, can listen to our storyteller, Amelia, read the chapters.

Amelia is standing by to play each chapter when you’re ready. Just click on the LISTEN button to play a chapter at your leisure.

Should you wish to follow the text – you can – with each chapter presented as a media-rich file, with actual images, and links to video clips that embellish the story. Just click the READ button in the list.

So, to the bookshelf and click on the book to start its story…
